Character Interview: Jackson Cole
Alluring
Anyone want a little glimpse of what Jackson was like before he met Alexis? Rachel from the Kiss and Tell reading group on Goodreads caught up with Jack for a little one-on-one interview. https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...
[START OF TRANSCRIPT] Las Vegas, Nevada Allure Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip I step into the office author Sarah Curtis directed me to. Large wooden double doors open before me to reveal a huge space with a leather sofa and glass coffee table, a large desk, and even a mini bar set in the corner. Jackson Cole's office is stark with the barest amount of décor and no personal touches. Adjusting my fitted jacket, I head straight for Mr. Cole. He sits behind his desk, gorgeous but imposing in an oversized leather chair. He's classically handsome--drool-worthy really--with brown hair, neatly styled if just a tad too long, and forest-green eyes. Jackson politely stands as I walk farther in, coming around his desk to shake my hand and introduce himself before directing me to the smaller leather chair on the other side of his desk. As he moves back to resume his seat, I note his well built 6'+ frame. He's impeccably dressed in a tailor-made dark suit, crisp white shirt, and navy patterned tie. Jackson sits, leaning back, looking relaxed as he crosses an ankle over a knee, entwining his fingers across his abdomen, giving me a panty-melting smile. I cross my legs and rest my notepad on my thigh. "Thank you for agreeing to see me, Mr. Cole." He gives an acknowledging head nod. "Please, call me Jack. And the pleasure is mine." Another devastating smile leaves me a bit flustered. I mean how could it not? This man is near perfect in looks and grace. "Yes, well," I clear my throat. "Shall we get on with the interview?" He gives me another acknowledging nod this time accompanied by a small smirk. "I'm ready whenever you are." "Right, first question. What's your biggest turn on?" "Well, Rachel, I'd have to say a woman's blush." He stares at me with piercing green eyes, taking in the slight flush that's currently warming my cheeks. "Knowing what a woman's thinking to cause such a blush is what gets me hard. A woman's thoughts can be so very naughty." He grins and my eyes widen at his boldness. I look down at my notes to break eye contact. "When you have 30 minutes of free time, how do you pass that time?" "Working out. I take advantage of the hotel's gym every day, mostly lifting weights, but if I have some spare time, I'll avail myself of the pool. Swimming is a great cardio exercise." I can think of another form of cardio, I muse but bite my lip so I don't say my thoughts out loud. "What's the hardest thing you've ever done?" Jack tips his head back, closing his eyes in thought. "Taking over the company. Proving to everyone I'm as good as my father and not just some privileged, spoiled kid." He sits up, for the first time looking serious. "Proving I love this company just as much as my dad does, and I would do anything to see it prosper." "What did you do growing up that got you into trouble?" I ask after writing down a few notes. At that, he lets out a bark of laughter. "The usual things boys do while growing up, I guess. I do remember one time, I think I was about fifteen, maybe sixteen, my dad had just bought an Aston Martin Vanquish. Of course, I wasn't allowed to touch it. But telling a teenager not to drive the pretty new sports car was like waving a red flag. Thinking I was so smart, I'd waited a month before taking it out for a spin. Mom and Dad were away on business, and it was too easy to pull a fast one on our housekeeper. She never even knew I'd left the house until the police had brought me home after the accident." "Accident?" I ask raising a brow. "Knowing what I know now, the car was too powerful, and I wasn’t an experienced enough driver to control it. Ended up hitting four parked cars. Thankfully, no one was hurt. Dad's lawyers earned their paychecks for that mess." Jack shakes his head at the memory, a grimace playing on his lips. "I think that's the angriest I've ever seen my dad. He loved that damn car." Sexy and reckless... This one is trouble... "When was the last time you had an amazing meal?" "Just last night. Temptations, a steakhouse here in the hotel, has excellent food. Their chocolate cake is positively sinful." He gives me a smirk, turning his flirt back on. "I can get very creative with frosting." I can't help but laugh softly. "I bet... Do you have a criminal record of any kind?" "No. I might bend certain rules to suit my purposes, but I never completely break them." "Hmm, I see... What's the craziest thing you've ever done?" "By craziest, what you really mean is stupidest, and that would be diving off the San Marcos River bridge while drunk. I was in college, it was a dare. That's all I'm gonna say." "It's too bad I missed that. Would you rather go have a night out or evening in?" "I like a night out to turn into an evening in." Jack gives me a wicked smile, making it not hard to understand his meaning. Keep it professional, Rachel... I tell myself to be good and review my list for the next question. "What three words best describe your personality?" "Driven. Controlling. Relentless." "Mm, I can see that... What animal best represents you and why?" "I see myself as a tiger. It's the largest of all the cats and at the top of the food chain. They're aggressive, competitive, and territorial." He gives me a sly smirk. "A lot like me." "Indeed," I say, adjusting the collar of my dress shirt. "Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people." "My two closest friends are Gage Hunter and Mason Connor. Gage is the lead singer of the rock group, Engage. I'm sure you've heard of it?" Jack raises a questioning brow. "Yes, of course, I love their music." "And Mase is the quarterback for our football team, the Nevada Pursuers. He's taken us to the Super Bowl twice since he's joined the team."
I can't mistake the pride in Jack's voice when he talks of his friends. "Last question. How close are you to your family?" "Very close. I'm an only child, so I'm their whole world. I must admit, I was a bit spoiled growing up, but I think I turned out all right. They've been traveling a lot since my dad retired. I miss them, but I'm glad they're finally living life a little." I tuck my notes away and stand from the seat holding out my hand. Jack follows suit, clasping it. "I want to thank you for your time." "Anytime, Rachel. It was delightful meeting you. Let me show you out. My assistant, Becky, will help you with anything else you may need." Jack opens the door and escorts me to where Becky is waiting. I hear a click as the door to Jack's office closes behind me and congratulate myself for behaving.
